The 2nd annual Atlantic Canadian Craft Brew Oktoberfest FUNdraising event recently took place at the Moncton Lions Club to support United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick.

Attendees enjoyed sampling dozens of Atlantic Canadian products including craft beer, cider, mead and food, all while raising $5,333.77 for United Way during their 2016 campaign. United Way works to improve communities in Southeastern New Brunswick (Kent, Westmorland and Albert counties). It creates long-term, positive change; moving people from poverty to possibility, building strong communities, and ensuring that kids be all that kids can be. Working for over 60 years in Southeastern New Brunswick, United Way partners with over 26 community agencies and helps fund over 28 programs and initiatives to make this change possible. Our sincere thanks goes to our sponsors who contributed to this wonderful event: our Title sponsor, Grant Thornton; media partner 91.9 The Bend; and sponsors Forté Communication, Maynard Custom Reno, Party Ice, Hudson Creative Agency, Jym Line Glassware, InColor Printing and Instant Imprints – you were all a huge part of our success!

A special thank you goes out to all of the brewers and food suppliers, as well as the volunteers who helped out at the event to keep things going smoothly. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Feedback from attendees was that they liked the number of breweries, intimate scale, good venue, and food included in the price of the ticket. “I like the event was not too big. We were just among beer lovers. Most were strangers but it felt like they were friends. And we had a nice selection of craft beers.” Another person said, “It was good to be able to talk to people who were actually involved in the making of the products. Some unique beer available. Smaller brewers.”

We are already planning our third event for September 30, 2017. We look forward to seeing our familiar supporters and new friends for another successful Oktoberfest event!
